Procedure for Tahiti cultured pearls exported for non-commercial purposes

  • This procedure only applies on an occasional basis and exclusively for pearls purchased by visitors for their personal use, or as gifts for their families or friends, in quantities that do not involve any commercial purpose.
Prior to check-in, you should present your pearls to a Customs officer, who will visually check for the presence of any reject, and will verify any ownership document (invoice, etc.)

So, when purchasing your pearl, please ask the jeweller to specify its type and quality criteria on your invoice.

  • Items that contain pearls and that are exported with no commercial purpose, are exempted from the specific tax on exported pearls (DSPE).
Loose pearls (including Keishis) are also exempted from the above tax, if the quantity does not exceed ten.
